Pecan Apple Cinnamon Rolls with Cinnamon Cream Cheese Frosting

In our house, if my husband doesn't cook breakfast then we all eat cereal. I'm lucky that he is amazing in the kitchen and loves to come up with new stuff. But when it comes to breakfast, it's all about hash browns, bacon, eggs, and toast. He's a "classic" breakfast guy.

Every once and a while I'll get a wild hair and take over though. My normal job is to make the toast. But I do love some good cinnamon rolls or pancakes too! When I'm craving those, I take over the spatula and let him have a rest.

A few weeks ago I decided to venture outside our normal cinnamon rolls and make something a bit more festive for the fall.

I present Pecan Apple Cinnamon Rolls...

~ Instructions ~

1. Using a stand mixer, hand mixer OR spoon combine 2 cups of flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.

2. Heat milk at a low power in the microwave until lukewarm (120 ° F - 130 ° F). Took about :20 for me.

3. Add the warm milk, 1/4 cup butter, and egg to the flour mixture and mix at low speed until ingredients are combined, scraping sides of bowl frequently.

4. Continue to add the flour, 1/2 cup at a time until the dough begins to leave the sides of the bowl.

5. Turn dough out onto lightly floured board and knead until it is smooth and elastic.

6. Spray bowl with cooking spray and place dough in bowl, turning once to bring greased side of dough up.

7. Cover and let rise in a hot place until double in size (about 40 minutes).

8. Push fist down into the dough's center, pull edges into center, and turnover in the bowl, let rise again until almost double in size (about 30 minutes).

9. While dough is rising, in a large saucepan combine filling ingredients and cook on medium heat for 15 - 20 minutes or until apples are tender. Set aside and allow to cool.

10. Roll dough into 9 "x 15" rectangle, spread filling over dough.

11. Roll up tightly beginning at wide side and seal by pinching edges together.

12. Spray 9 "x 13" pan with cooking spray. cut rolls into 1 "slices using a knife and place in pan a little apart from each other.

13 . Cover pan and let rise until double in size (about 20 minutes).

14. Bake at 375 ° F for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and completely baked through.

Let the rolls sit for about 5 minutes before serving. Add the frosting to the top and enjoy!
