I love some ooey gooey smore's as much as anyone....but I hate having to make a fire just to have them. Plus...they really are kind of messy. Sooo, I've got a grown up version!
If you can't find the chocolate marshmallows you see below...just get a second jar of marshmallow fluff. I made a double batch (9x13 pan) but I'm including the single bath recipe.
~ Ingredients ~
(For a single batch or 9x9 pan)
- 1/2 cup butter - soft
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 large egg
- 1 1/3 cup flour
- 3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 12 - 15 mini Reese's peanut butter cups (or 6 regular cups)
- 1 jar of marshmallow fluff
~ Directions ~
First, heat the oven to 350 degrees (176 C) and grease your pan.
Cream together the butter and sugars.
Then add the egg and vanilla. Mix thoroughly.
Next, in a separate bowl, mix together the flour, graham cracker crumbs, baking powder, and the salt.
Now, mix them together. The dough that forms will be easy to press into the pan by hand.
Take half of the mixture and press it into the greased pan. Next, evenly space the Reese's peanut butter cups on the dough.
Now, put the marshmallow fluff over the Reese's. You can see by my picture that I used the fluff and marshmallows. One thing I did notice was that the marshmallows puff up when they in the oven. Soooo I would recommend using small marshmallows or just marshmallow fluff.
Once you've got the layers of goodness laid down, add the remaining dough to the top.You can roll it out on wax paper and transfer it or press out pieces with your hands until you've got everything covered.
Next, place in the oven for 30 minutes.
Pull them out and let them cool for about 10 minutes :) They are yummy and delicious and they taste fantastic....even the next day!
Hope you've enjoyed my solution to rainy summer days or lack of a fire pit or wood!
